What a crazy ride 2019 was. Crazy great!
Yesterday, one of my friends asked me to sum up the year using one-word explanations. No sentences.
So, here goes:
Fun. Creative. Scary. Passionate. Grueling. Scary. Learning. Forgetting. Leaving. Fast. Naked. Scary. Forward. Reflective. Loving.
Then she asked me to put all of that into a sentence.
So, here goes again:
I spent the year putting myself out to the world while being naked with bad hair, but learning and moving on with less baggage.
Then she asked what I was taking from all of that into 2020.
My clothes are on. I’ve caught my stride. And I’m moving forward with the people who have shown me the love and support we all deserve.
Do you see what she did to me?
We were talking about how we get to this point every year and suddenly feel all this pressure to do everything better in the New Year—but we’re not always sure where to start.
Maybe we don’t have to overthink it.
Check your heart. Listen to the words. Then put the thought together.
Things can feel easier when they come from the heart. That doesn’t mean there won’t be hard work involved.
But when it’s your passion, somehow the work feels different.
As I wrote this at the beginning of 2020, the year ahead felt like a blank slate. I had no idea exactly where the journey would lead, but I was excited to find out.
Here’s to moving forward, carrying a little less baggage, and surrounding ourselves with the people who help us along the way.
Happy New Year from our house to yours.
