Double Trouble Gambler

A little Wild West. A whole lot of rock and roll.

Double Trouble Gambler

Double Trouble Gambler brings together two influences that run deep in Dusty’s work: the Wild West and rock and roll. The story begins with the Black Hills Gold Rush and the rush to Deadwood Gulch in 1875. Prospectors, adventurers, outlaws, and gamblers followed, creating a place where cards, liquor, and guns became part of the mythology of the American West. But when Dusty thinks of the Gambler hat, another figure comes to mind: legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. Rooted in blues, rock, and jazz, his music and unmistakable style left a lasting impression on her. Dusty had the opportunity to see him perform live shortly before his death—an evening she has never forgotten. Double Trouble Gambler brings those worlds together in a strong, hand-shaped silhouette. The version shown is black with a 4 3/4-inch crown, 3 1/2-inch unbound brim, cream velvet hatband, and Dusty’s individually assembled feather detailing. Handmade in Dusty’s Sturgis, South Dakota studio, the Double Trouble Gambler can be commissioned in different materials, colors, and finishing details. Each hat is individually shaped and finished, with feather embellishments varying from one piece to the next.
