Be Legendary Bolero
Be Legendary Bolero brings together Dusty’s interpretation of the Argentine Gaucho hat with inspiration drawn from a historic photograph of working men on the streets of Deadwood during the Black Hills Gold Rush. The photograph—titled The Real Men of Deadwood—captured men who had come from different places and backgrounds in search of opportunity, fortune, and sometimes fame. Dusty saw a connection between those figures and the legendary Gauchos of Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil: skilled horsemen with reputations for independence, courage, and an unruly spirit. Those influences come together in this broad-brimmed Bolero design, hand-shaped with a 5-inch crown and 4-inch unbound brim. The version shown is finished in Sand with a burnt-orange velvet hatband and Dusty’s individually assembled feather embellishment. Handmade in Dusty’s Sturgis, South Dakota studio, Be Legendary Bolero can be commissioned in different materials, colors, and finishing details. Each is individually shaped and finished, allowing the underlying design to remain recognizable while every finished hat has a character of its own.
