Vintage Beaded Phoenix
Vintage Beaded Phoenix is a one-of-a-kind top hat handcrafted from a European hare blend in Dusty’s Sturgis, South Dakota studio. Its hatband began as a 1950s children’s belt, which Dusty repurposed and sewed onto buffalo leather. Lead-free pewter Phoenix conchos, a sterling silver concho rescued from an old jacket, and an individually arranged feather embellishment complete the design. The piece reflects Dusty’s practice of reusing, repurposing, and reimagining found and vintage materials to create wearable art that cannot be duplicated exactly.
